Due for completion in late 2020, these one-bedroom self-catering cottages have been designed by award-winning local architects Rural Design.

The brief was to design sustainably built cottages that caused minimal disruption to the surrounding area. We have fond memories of enjoying the stunning open views from the road above the site and we did not want the project to disrupt the view for anyone else. The building materials and grass roofs are intended to help the buildings blend into the hillside above the croft. We will be delighted if people don’t know they’re there!

We are not currently taking bookings for the Colbost cottages. However, we will keep you updated on their construction and availability on our website and via our mailing list.

The cottages have been designed to make the most of the stunning views over the croft towards Loch Dunvegan and the Isle of Harris.

They benefit from large, floor-length windows in the living spaces and bedrooms.  Northwest Skye enjoys fantastic sunsets and we hope you will relish them from the comfort of the sofa, bedroom or bath! When the weather closes in, draw up beside the log-burning stove and keep your feet warm on the sheepskin rugs.

The cottages will be well-equipped with an emphasis on comfort and quality.

Fittings will be simple yet beautiful, reflecting local artisanship wherever possible. Beds, baths, showers, sofas and kitchen equipment will be of the highest quality. A large entrance lobby will provide plenty of space to store walking boots and outdoor equipment.

Our Location

The cottages are off the settlement road that leads from Colbost to Husabost and Totaig in north-west Skye. This is the perfect location from which to venture out and explore the island. It is within walking distance of the famous Three Chimneys restaurant and the Micheline-starred Loch Bay restaurant is a short drive away.  There are many other award-winning restaurants nearby, so there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy quality Scottish fare.
